Macau Airport (MFM) is an international airport located in Macau’s special administrative zone. It is situated on the eastern side of Taipa Island, about 5 km (3 mi) from Macau’s city center. It was first opened for commercial operations in 1995. This airport is located at the eastern extremity of Taipa Island and adjacent waterways. Macau is famous for blending Portuguese and Chinese cultures and is also known for its gambling industries and casions.

Senado Square

Senado Square (Senate Square), located in the historic centre of Macau, is a charming pedestrian area where you will most likely begin your tour. The majestic former Senate building is currently home to the Municipal Council and is often regarded as Macau’s greatest example of Portuguese colonial architecture. The Council Chamber, with its magnificent wood paneling, and the Senate Library, with its over 50,000 rare manuscripts dating back over 500 years, are both interior attractions.

Fortaleza do Monte

For many years, Fortaleza do Monte was the focal point of Portugal’s military presence in this part of China, eventually serving as the governor’s mansion until 1749. The Mount Fortress Garden, with its beautiful moat-like pond and flower beds, is worth seeing, as is the Moorish-style Manso Evocativa de Sun Yat-Sen, a mansion created in honor of Sun Yat-Sen, the first Chinese Republic’s founder. Sun Yat-Sen Park, with its lovely gardens, Victorian greenhouse, and aviary, is another linked attraction.

Giant Panda Pavilion

The Giant Panda Pavilion sits on Cotai, it is a little out of the way, but this means that crowds are usually light. It’s also one of the top family-friendly activities in Macau. Admire the translucent roof in the shape of a big seashell as you enter the architecturally distinctive building. Several enormous pandas, adorable red pandas, and a variety of monkeys may be found in the wildlife pavilion.

The Maritime Museum and Fisherman’s Wharf

The excellent Maritime Museum (Museu Maritimo de Macau) is housed in a modern building directly across from the A-Ma Temple and features several exhibits, including a comprehensive collection of material on Macau’s maritime history, model ships, and fishing equipment. Exhibits depicting the evolution of nautical and meteorological instruments and several dioramas depicting significant events in the city’s maritime history are also of interest.

Guia Fortress

The Guia Fortress is a green oasis in the heart of Macao, just a short walk from the high-speed ferry terminal. Hiking pathways or a brief cable car trip are the only ways to get there. At the top, you’ll find historic cannons, a small chapel with well-preserved murals from the 1600s, a 91-meter-high lighthouse, and stunning views of Macau. Go underground and explore the public-access tunnels in the fortress; some are near the lighthouse, and others are near the cable car entrance. Exhibits and images depicting the area’s military history can be found throughout the stronghold.

Kun Iam: The Temple of the Goddess of Mercy

The current Kun Iam Temple, dedicated to the goddess of mercy, was built in 1627, while allusions to a temple on the site date back to the Yuan dynasty of the 13th and 14th centuries. Three Buddha images depict the Past, Present, and Future in the entrance hall, while a figure of the goddess of mercy is flanked on either side by nine Buddhas in another hall. A vast Chinese garden surrounds the temple, with its Tree of the Loving Couples, where young lovers pray for good fortune in their future lives. Lin Fong Miu Temple, a Taoist shrine erected in 1592 that has long acted as a staging location for pilgrims to China, is also worth visiting.

Coloane Island and Hac Sa Beach

The island of Coloane, which is connected to the mainland by a bridge and causeway, is located south of the Macau Peninsula, past the island of Taipa, and should be included in your Macau itinerary. The most well-known of these beaches is Hac Sa Beach on the island’s east coast. The beach area, which is part of Coloane Park and features Chinese pavilions and tropical flora, comprises a recreation complex with swimming, tennis, mini-golf, and other enjoyable amusements.

AJ Hackett Macau Tower

The Macau Tower, which is part of the huge Macau Tower Convention and Entertainment Centre, is one of the city’s most identifiable features and a famous tourist destination. The fun side of the tower, which stood 338 meters tall and was created for telecommunications and television, has an observation deck with spectacular views of the city, as well as a multitude of restaurants, cinemas, and shopping options. The Macau Tower Skywalk, a spectacular walk along the outer rim of the observation level, or the world’s highest bungee jump at the 233-meter point, are both available for thrill-seekers.
